Overview
Hydraulic balers use hydraulic oil as the driving medium and generate high pressure through the reciprocating motion of hydraulic cylinders. They compress loose materials—such as waste paper, scrap metal, plastic films, straw, and used tires—into compact, uniform bales. The primary purpose of this equipment is to reduce material volume (the compression ratio typically ranges from 3:1 to 15:1), thereby lowering transportation and storage costs. This also facilitates subsequent recycling processing, such as shredding, smelting, or further refining, particularly in the resource recovery industry (e.g., scrap steel at steel mills and scrap aluminum at aluminum plants).
Operational Principle
The motor drives the high-pressure oil pump, which filters and pumps hydraulic oil from the oil tank, converting it into high-pressure hydraulic oil.
High-pressure oil is distributed to the individual cylinders. The multi-cylinder system (main cylinder, side cylinders, and door-cylinder cylinder) operates in a fixed sequence, applying pressure to the material from multiple directions.
Note: Metal bundling typically involves “pre-compaction” and “final pressing” to achieve the required density.
Once the preset pressure is reached, the system enters a hold state, maintaining the pressure for several seconds to ensure that the material undergoes plastic deformation without rebounding.
Once compression is complete, the door opens, and the main cylinder continues to push the compressed package out of the compression chamber. The remaining cylinders are sequentially retracted to their original positions, ready for the next loading cycle.
